Gas & Petrochemical Noise Survey

Noise generated by Oil and Gas/Petrochemical installations is generally an issue for two reasons:

  • Internal Noise - Noise within the plant/installation itself, which can interfere with Public Address and Alarm systems affect onsite communications, and be a danger to employees' hearing (Noise at Work).
  • External/Environmental Noise - Surrounding community locations within the local environment are exposed to noise nuisance.

We are capable of producing noise propagation models in order to calculate and evaluate the effect of noise and its impact on the development. This allows us to identify where noise control is required and to what extent. Various Noise Control measures can be evaluated through the modelling to ensure the most cost effective design. Our experienced team will ensure the noise control measures are successfully installed through close and effective working links.

In order to satisfy the acoustic design individual items of equipment and piping will no doubt need to be given a noise criterion including limit values. It is imperative to work with suppliers to ensure this criterion is met through specification and witness testing.

Careful consideration must be paid to noise levels generated by piping during oil and gas installations. Our design can include the assessment of valve and pipe noise in order to identify where acoustic pipe insulation should be installed and the appropriate type of insulation.

Our experienced team are capable of monitoring internal plant levels and external environmental noise levels in order to establish compliance with noise limits. We approach and work ethics allow us to undertake survey work in the most efficient and cost-effective manner.

When considering internal noise levels and more specifically employee noise exposure, we can assess a workforce either with measured or predicted noise levels. Noise control zones can be allocated by either activity, specific machinery or by typical working routine. Noise Control Measures can be designed and utilised to provide cost effective protection to your employees.

Where noise control or noise mitigation is not possible, then we can help determine restricted zones, mandatory hearing zones, and assess the type of hearing protection required.

Our recent Oil and Gas/Petrochemical Projects include:

  • Egypt LNG noise surveys
  • Noise survey of LNG tankers, Loading, Passage, unloading, Egypt, Brunei, Japan
