Environmental Noise Survey Case Study: Noise Assessments

Sound Solution Acoustic Consultancy had been commissioned to assess whether an existing building at was affected by the noise from an adjacent work shop. SSAC were to undertake a Noise Impact Assessment of the area and consider whether the noise at the existing building was affected by the noise from adjacent workshop.

Our report therefore described a noise survey of the site, the subsequent analysis to determine the noise environment of the existing development and if the workshop had any contribution to the total ambient noise. The results were compared with national and local standards and specific criteria. Recommendations were made with respect to the design of the development.

In order to determine the existing ambient noise of the area and any noise impact from the work shop noise monitoring was carried out at the existing development of the most exposed facade to the work shop. The assessment of the environmental noise and the noise from the work shop was undertaken as a desktop assessment.
