BS8233:1999 states that "for a reasonable standard in bedrooms at night, individual noise events should normally not exceed 45dB". To equate this to an external noise level, BS8233 indicates that any type of window in a facade when partially open provides a weighted sound reduction index RW of 10-15 dB.
