Feb 2009 - Hand-Arm Vibration Guidance
Updated guidance on hand-arm vibration has been issued for employees by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
Hand-arm vibration is the vibration transmitted into your hands and arms when you use hand held powered work equipment, and it can cause tingling and numbness in the fingers, loss of strength in the hands and vibration white finger.
In order to minimize the risk there is several things you can do, including using low vibration equipment, and reducing the time spent using a tool in one go by doing other jobs in between.

Feb 2009 - Tougher Penalties for Health & Safety Law Breakers
New legislation will increase penalties and provide courts with greater sentencing powers for those who do not comply with health and safety laws.
The Health and Safety (Offences) Act 2008 comes into from as from January 2009, and raises the maximum penalties that can be imposed in the lower courts from £5,000 to £20,000. In addition, the range of offences has been broadened.
