WHAT IS INVOLVED?
Walls and floors are tested for airborne performance by setting up a noise source in a room on one side of the party wall or floor and measuring the noise on both sides.
Floors also require a test for impact noise. This is designed to ensure footfall noise is carefully considered. The impact tests involve setting up a tapping machine on the floor above and measuring the noise in the room directly below.
